The North Central Review is a student-run literary journal that publishes the creative works of college and university students from around the country. Established in 1935, the NC Review became an exclusively undergraduate journal in 2005; just one of a handful of such journals in the nation.
The NC Review is published annually through North Central College in Naperville, Illinois. All genres are considered, including: short fiction, poetry, drama, creative nonfiction, artwork, and mixed genre pieces.
As members of the staff of the NC Review, North Central students participate in every step of the publishing process, ranging from editorial and production duties to budget and publicity work. Any North Central student, regardless of major, is welcome to participate.
Students involved in the journal:
- Gain experience in reading and judging manuscripts.
- Design and lay out a professional magazine using editing software such as Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop and Illustrator.
- Learn the "ins" and "outs" of preparing and working under a budget.
- Advertise the journal across campus and across the country.
- Satisfy a practicum requirement for North Central's English major writing track.
